Flat out in the home-race
- Farasis Energy new Venturi Formula E Team partner
- Engel and Sarrazin want to shine in their home race in Monaco
The Formula E Championship is about to kick off its European season. After races in Asia, Africa and South America, the Monaco ePrix held on May 13th represents the fifth round of the 2016 / 2017 season, the first on European soil – and the home race for the Venturi Formula E Team that is based in the Principality.
During a press conference held prior to the race, the squad around the two Formula E regulars, Maro Engel und Stephane Sarrazin, presented itself to national and international media representatives. And just in time for the season highlight in Monaco, team owner Gildo Pallanca Pastor had very good news up his sleeve: with Farasis Energy, he welcomed a new sponsor for the team.
“We are very proud of having the opportunity to welcome this new partner in time for the race held not far from our headquarters,” Pastor said during the press conference in the ‘Brasserie de Monaco’, that was also attended by Alejandro Agag, the Formula E CEO.
“As one of the leading manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries in the e-mobility area, the American-Chinese company suits Venturi and Formula E perfectly. This partnership is not only a marketing tool but first of all the beginning of a productive long-term cooperation. It will result in numerous synergies and not only for the use in motor racing. Therefore, I am looking forward to the exciting tasks to come.”
“We are excited to be a part of Venturi team and Formula E.”
said Farasis CEO and co-founder Yu Wang. “The synergistic of this partnership will give Farasis a greater presence in the global lithium-ion market space.”
“In addition, this partnership will be a proven ground for Farasis’ cutting edge lithium-ion technologies.” Said Keith Kepler CTO and co-founder of Farasis “we are looking forward to see our technologies perform under the most challenging conditions.”
Motor-racing highlight at a legendary venue
In the motor-racing fraternity, Monaco is named in the same breath with Le Mans or Indianapolis. The reason for this outstanding reputation is the Monaco GP that has been held on the Principality’s legendary street circuit since 1923.
The Formula E race will be contested on a shorter version of the circuit that reflects the full charm of the street race, nevertheless.
Team Venturi assiduously prepared for the kick-off of the European season. Since mid-April the racing cars are back from South America and were prepared in the headquarters for the coming race weekend. Meanwhile, team and drivers are highly motivated: “I really like the Monaco ePrix,” said Sarrazin. “Both the circuit and the atmosphere are just unique. This is my favourite circuit on the Formula E calendar. Two years ago I finished sixth, here, thus securing a really nice result. I once again set myself ambitious goals for our home race.”
At the same time, the Monaco ePrix will represent a debut for Maro Engel who grew up in Monaco. “I have been living in Monaco for a long time but never contested a race at this historic circuit, to date. All the more I am pleased that I finally will do so, this year. And I also look forward to the event from the racing point of view. After all, our pace was very good in Mexico. Should we succeed in delivering on the same level in our home race we will have good chances of making it to the podium.”
Challenge ‘Home Race’
The forthcoming race weekend also represents a major challenge for every team member aloof from the track. “We have got a lot of guests on site and turned the famous Rascasse restaurant into the Venturi club for them,” explained Marc Gindorf, co-owner of the team, to add smiling: „Furthermore, we will be on a special watch as Monaco Info, the Monegasque TV will accompany us at every turn throughout the weekend. “
