ROME E-PRIX: A KEY RACE FOR VENTURI
Monaco, 11 April 2018
Monaco’s VENTURI Formula E team will be in neighbouring Italy to take part in the first ever Rome E-prix on Saturday.
AN EMOTIVE EVENT
Italy is close to the VENTURI Formula E team’s heart – quite literally. With the Italian border just a short distance from its headquarters, the team’s members are intimately familiar with the country’s culture. Edoardo MORTARA, one of the two drivers, also happens to be Swiss Italian.
“This race meeting is particularly special for me, as I’ve always considered myself to be part Italian. I’m delighted that the championship’s European tour is beginning with the Rome E-prix. I have big hopes for this event”, Gildo PASTOR, President of VENTURI Formula E team.
After picking up points at each of the last two races, the VENTURI Formula E will be aiming to build on its recent positive results.
“It’s going to be very special to drive in Rome. I’m looking forward to discovering the track, which has a lot of turns. Hopefully it will suit us and we’ll be able to get some more points on the board. At any rate, we’ve all been working very hard in Monaco towards that objective”, Maro ENGEL, VENTURI Formula E team driver.
In recent weeks, the engineering team has been familiarising itself with this new 2.860 km track in the simulator, with the help of the team’s development driver Michaël BENYAHIA. The two senior drivers, Edoardo MORTARA and Maro ENGEL, have also worked on energy management strategies, taking into account the weather conditions with the 33 lap contest likely to take place in lower temperatures than those seen at previous races.
“I really hope to get back into the top ten. That’s my aim. Hopefully we’ll learn from the mistakes made in the last race and move forward”, Edoardo MORTARA, VENTURI Formula E team driver.
AN EXCEPTIONAL RACE WEEKEND
Rome, the eternal city, will be hosting its first ever E-prix in the fine surroundings of the “Esposizione Universale di Roma” district, home to the impressive “La Nuvola” convention centre. Free practice and the race itself will all take place on Saturday 14 April. You can follow the event on Twitter: @VenturiGP.
