MARRAKESH ROOKIE TEST: POSITIVE RESULTS FOR VENTURI FORMULA E TEAM
Frenchman Norman NATO and Monegasque driver Arthur LECLERC flew the flag for the Monaco-based VENTURI Formula E Team at the official Rookie Test on the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan completing a total of 66 laps of the 2.99km track.
The team had plenty to work on following a disappointing race-day performance hindered by electronic issues during the Marrakesh e-Prix the day before (12 January 2019). The clear target for the two test sessions was to investigate and solve yesterday’s issues and improve the VENTURI VFE-05’s efficiency and overall performance.
From a timing perspective, the two VENTURI Formula E Team drivers finished in the top ten, with LECLERC coming in just ahead of NATO in ninth and tenth positions respectively.
IN THEIR WORDS:
“It was great to be out in the car today, especially after watching the events unfold over the course of the weekend. We felt like we had a huge amount to get through during the two sessions. This morning we focused more on making technical improvements and looking at the regen, this afternoon it was nice to be able to focus a little more on speed during the push laps and perfecting the set-up. I really enjoyed the day, and I’m very happy that we’re making progress. I want to thank VENTURI Formula E Team for this amazing opportunity.”
Arthur LECLERC, VENTURI Formula E Team Rookie Test Driver
“It was my first time out in the VENTURI VFE-05 and I knew that the start of today would be intense – we had a lot of work to do : long runs simulation in the morning and yesterday’s issues solving to do in the afternoon. The goal was not to push to get the best time. We made some good progress today and I had a great time in the car. Thank you to each member of the team for their confidence. Now it’s back to the simulator where I will continue to help the team to move in the right direction.”
