PARIS E-PRIX: VENTURI FORMULA E TEAM TARGETING MORE POINTS IN PARIS
The VENTURI Formula E Team has its sights firmly set on more points this Saturday (27th April) as Paris plays host to the eighth round of the 2018-2019 Formula E Championship. Following a challenging race in Rome (13th April), the Monegasque team has spent the interim hard at work to rectify the issues experienced in the Italian capital.
AN EXCEPTIONAL SETTING
In a perfect showcase of city centre racing, the Paris E-Prix boasts a truly impressive setting with the splendid Alexandre III bridge marking the northern boundary of the circuit. The iconic Hôtel des Invalides sits proudly at the centre of the track, where race spectators can enjoy clear views of the Eiffel Tower amongst the on-track action.
The 1.92 km circuit (one of the shortest on the championship calendar) includes 14 turns and promises good race pace. Given the layout, overtaking during the race will be difficult, so a strong performance in qualifying will be crucial.
As usual, the drivers will have the option of activating “Attack Mode”, the special mode that offers a power boost designed to spice up Formula E races. The attack mode zones are located in the second of the two straights, off the racing line.
The VENTURI Formula E Team arrives in France lying in 6th place in the overall team championship rankings. The aim for this second European race is clear: more points on the scoreboard and a welcome return to the podium. Edoardo MORTARA is currently 9th in the drivers’ rankings, with teammate Felipe MASSA in 16th.
“Aside from the Rome E-Prix, our results in recent races have been good, so the performance is there. What we need now is to regain consistency. It’s clear that’s what will make the difference in the championship this year. In Paris, we need to get the maximum out of the car, especially in qualifying, as overtaking will be difficult during the race – we need to start from the front to try and pick up some points.”
Edoardo MORTARA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver
“It’s another new track for me. Actually this one is very tight – so the qualifying will be very, very important to the outcome of the race. Driving in the middle of Paris, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, will be a highlight for me. We have worked hard to prepare for this race, I really hope we’ll get a good result. The whole team deserves it.”
Felipe MASSA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver
“There’s no denying that Rome was tough for us but we know what went wrong and we’re planning to bounce back in Paris. It’s never the good races that make you, it’s the really tough ones and we’ve learnt so much so far this season. Each new race is an opportunity for us to improve and we’re coming to Paris with a positive mindset, determined to return to form.”
Susie WOLFF, VENTURI Formula E Team Principal
Practice, qualifying and the race itself will take place on the same day, Saturday 27 April 2019.
A pioneer in the field of electromobility since 2000, Monaco-based VENTURI President, Gildo PASTOR was an early supporter of Alejandro AGAG – FIA Formula E CEO – when he began laying the foundations for what would become the FIA Formula E World Championship. Drawing on his expertise in the field, the Monegasque innovator quickly threw his support behind the fledgling Formula E project and decided to create the VENTURI Formula E Team which has competed in every season since the championship premiered in 2014.
In 2015, VENTURI became an Formula E FIA-approved manufacturer. Today VENTURI supplies full powertrain systems for the VENTURI Formula E and HWA AG teams.
In 2018, Susie WOLFF was appointed Team Principal of VENTURI Formula E Team.
