SANTIAGO E-PRIX: VENTURI AIMING HIGH
Monaco, 31 January 2018
Chilean capital Santiago will be the setting for the fourth race of the 2017-2018 FIA Formula E Championship, on 2 and 3 February. In the shadow of the Andes, Monaco’s VENTURI Formula E team is setting its sights high.
The VENTURI Formula E team will take nothing but positives from the last E-prix in the streets of Marrakesh. Superb drives in Morocco by Maro ENGEL and Edoardo MORTARA saw them make up seven and twelve places respectively with two-thirds of the race gone, all while demonstrating fine energy management.
“In Hong-Kong and Marrakesh, our cars were competitive. I was in the points before getting the penalties. Hopefully that run will end now and I’m looking ahead. From what I’ve seen in the simulator, the track looks very interesting and I can’t wait to drive there.”, Maro ENGEL, VENTURI Formula E team driver.
“We’re on the right track. We’re making progress together, as a team. The Santiago circuit is new for everyone. As a newcomer to the championship that will help me, as in the previous races, most of my rivals had experience from previous years.”, Edoardo MORTARA, VENTURI Formula E team driver.
THE HEAT IS ON
With temperatures in Santiago expected to top 30°C, one of the key unknown factors will be energy management. The engineering crew, led by technical director Franck BALDET, has tested a number of different energy consumption scenarios in the simulator, while the team has also sought to familiarise itself with a new and particularly fast circuit.
As usual, free practice, qualifying and the race itself will all take place on the same day, Saturday 3 February 2018. To keep up with all the latest news from Santiago, follow the team on Twitter @VenturiGP.
